These aren't new apps. They're features you already have — on devices you're already using — that most people walk past every day.

Here's how to actually use them.

iPhone: Take a screenshot, then ask questions about it like a human would.

Visual Intelligence on screenshots

Take a screenshot, then ask questions about it like a human would.

Apple now lets you use Visual Intelligence on what is on your screen: take a screenshot, then highlight an object, ask ChatGPT about it, search Google, or even turn poster details into a calendar event.

Step 1: Capture Your Screen

Press the Side button and the Volume Up button simultaneously to take a screenshot.

Tap on the screenshot preview thumbnail that appears briefly in the lower-left corner of your screen.

Step 2: Ensure You Are in Intelligence Mode

Look for the pen/markup icon at the top or bottom of the screen.

If markup is active, tap the pen icon to hide it and switch your screenshot interface over to Apple Intelligence mode.

Step 3: Select and Isolate the Object

Circle or swipe your finger directly over the specific object, clothing item, plant, or block of text you want to analyze.

Step 4: Choose Your AI Action

Search Web: Tap the Search button to initiate a reverse image lookup via Google to find matching products or similar objects.

Ask ChatGPT: Tap the Ask button to securely pass the selected area to ChatGPT. A text field will open where you can type contextual questions like, "How do I fix this mechanical part?" or "Write a formula for this chart."

Add to Calendar: If you selected a poster or event invitation, a dynamic button labeled Add to Calendar or Create Event will appear in the center. Tap it to automatically populate a new calendar event with dates and locations extracted from the image.

Manage Text Blocks: If text is selected, choose the Summarize or Read Aloud buttons to digest long documents quickly.

MacOS: My favorite Apple AI trick isn't a chatbot. It's a hotkey.

One keyboard shortcut replaces the copy-paste loop

Mac's Hidden AI Shortcut: Highlight Text, Press One Key, Instantly Improve It

Most Mac users never use Apple Writing Tools because it's buried behind right-click menus.

Mac power users on Reddit discovered a simple workaround: create a custom keyboard shortcut for Show Writing Tools and launch Apple's AI editor from anywhere with a single key combination.

Step 1: Create The Shortcut

Open:

System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → App Shortcuts

Add a new shortcut:

Application: All Applications

Menu Title: Show Writing Tools

Shortcut: ⌘ + Shift + W (or any combination you prefer)

Step 2: Use It Anywhere

Highlight text in:

• Gmail
• Notion
• Slack
• Safari
• Chrome
• Apple Mail
• Notes

Press your shortcut.

Step 3: Choose Your AI Action

Proofread → Fix grammar and spelling.

Rewrite → Make text more professional, friendly, or concise.

Summarize → Turn long emails, articles, or meeting notes into key points.

Ask ChatGPT → Get deeper help without manually copying text into ChatGPT.

Real-Life Example

Received a long email?

Highlight it → Press your shortcut → Click Summarize.

Need to reply?

Highlight your draft → Press your shortcut → Click Professional.

Instead of opening ChatGPT and copy-pasting text back and forth, the AI comes directly to wherever you're already working.

Windows Studio Effects: look better and sound clearer on calls

Think of this as a built-in AI polish layer for your webcam and mic. On supported Windows 11 PCs with an NPU, Microsoft lets you turn on effects like background blur, eye contact, automatic framing, voice focus, portrait light, and creative filters. You can open them from Quick Settings or from the Camera settings page.

Step 1: Open Quick Settings
Click the Wi-Fi / sound / battery area next to the clock. If your PC supports it, you will see a Studio Effects tile.

Step 2: Turn on what you need
Use Voice Focus to reduce background noise, Eye Contact to look more engaged, and Automatic Framing to keep you centered.

Step 3: Join your call
Open Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet. The effects work in the background on supported devices.

Why people actually care
You do not need a fancy webcam or separate AI app. It is a simple way to look more professional on video calls without extra setup.

One catch
If you do not see Studio Effects, your device may not have a compatible NPU, and some effects are only available on certain hardware.

Android's New AI Typing Trick: Just Ramble

"Stop typing perfectly. Just talk, and let AI clean it up."

Most voice typing tools require you to speak clearly and think before every sentence.

Android's new Rambler feature does the opposite.

You simply talk naturally, and Gemini turns your messy thoughts into a clean, well-written message.

Step 1: Open Any App

Open WhatsApp, Gmail, Messages, Notes, or anywhere you normally type.

Step 2: Tap The Microphone

Open Gboard and tap the microphone icon.

Step 3: Talk Normally

Speak exactly how you would to a friend.

Use pauses.

Change your mind.

Say "um."

Correct yourself halfway through.

The AI automatically cleans it up.

Step 4: Send The Polished Result

As you speak, Gemini removes filler words, fixes mistakes, and turns your thoughts into a clear message.

Real-Life Example

Instead of typing:

"Hey um... can we move tomorrow's meeting... actually make that 2 PM instead of 3 PM because I have another appointment."

Just say it out loud.

Rambler automatically converts it into:

"Can we move tomorrow's meeting to 2 PM? I have another appointment at 3 PM."

Why People Should Care

Most people can speak much faster than they type.

Rambler removes the editing step, letting you go from thought → message with almost no effort.

Rambler is rolling out on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones this summer, with broader Android availability on other devices later in 2026.
