Human story (from my heart)
I’m not “a video person.” I usually make images for this newsletter. After readers told me 5–10‑second AI clips don’t chain, I felt the same frustration. So I tried a different bet: let AI do the heavy lifting while I only steer. I wanted a method that works on the first try with almost no budget. What clicked: generate a clear first frame and last frame, describe one believable action between them, and let the camera imply time/distance.

Transparency: No re‑runs. I accepted small quirks because they’re honest outputs from a single pass.
Why this matters (Business)
Repeatable for teams, scales to demos/tutorials/stories, and cheap enough to try today. Here’s a simple cost view so you can plan a 60‑second build using 10‑second clips (only 6 clips instead of 10):
Time & Cost Snapshot (creator‑friendly)
HailuoAI (platform credits)
Rough budgets:60s via 10s clips @ 768p: 6 clips × 50 = 300 credits. If pay‑as‑you‑go ≈ $1 per 70 credits, that’s ~$4.29 per finished minute. On Standard (1,000 credits), that’s ≈ 3 videos/month.(What I used) 6s @ 1080p path: 10 clips × 80 = 800 credits (~$11.43 pay‑as‑you‑go). On Pro (4,500 credits), ≈ 5 videos/month with credits left.
Kling 2.1 (credit‑per‑second model varies by mode)
Standard Mode: often ~1–2 credits/sec (720p vs 1080p). A 10s 1080p clip ≈ 20 credits.60s via 10s clips: 6 clips × 20 = 120 credits. On Standard (≈660 credits), ≈ 5 videos/month.
Master Mode: ~6 credits/sec for premium 1080p motion. A 10s clip ≈ 60 credits → 6‑clip minute ≈ 360 credits.
Recommendation: If you’re starting from zero, choose 10s clips to reduce handoffs: 6 clips = 1 minute with less stitching, same reliability.
How it works (Architect)
The Frame-Chain Method (brain-in-the-loop)
Start by choosing aspect ratio (Vertical 9:16 / Horizontal 16:9 / Square 1:1).
GPT writes prompts for Clip 1’s Start & End frames.
You generate frames in Gemini from those prompts and return them to GPT.
GPT then writes the Clip 1 video prompt using the real frames.
For Clip 2+, GPT writes End-frame prompts only; the previous Last frame becomes the next Start.
Each clip is 6–10s with one clear action; camera movement implies distance/time.
Keep lighting direction + subject scale locked for identity continuity.
Tool Roles
ClipChain GPT (brain): designs all prompts + continuity logic, adapts to the actual frames you return.
Gemini (Flash Nano Banana): generates Start/End images from GPT’s text.
Hailuo / Kling / Veo: render 6–10s motion from the paired frames.
Canva: assemble the full sequence.
ElevenLabs: add optional one-line VO per clip.
Timeline (typical)
~90 minutes → prompts → images → clips → sequence.
~30 minutes → voiceover polish.
Build with the GPT (highly recommended)
This isn’t optional — it’s the heart of making this repeatable. The ClipChain CustomGPT doesn’t just spit out prompts, it builds your video alongside you. Type “explain” at any point and it will show you why each step works — from camera moves to lighting to continuity. That way, you’re not just copying prompts, you’re learning how to trust the process and create your own long‑form videos with confidence.

This GPT is the brain of the workflow. It writes your Start/End image prompts first. You drop those into Gemini (Flash Nano Banana) to generate the actual frames, then feed the frames back to the GPT. Because it can see what Gemini actually produced, it writes tighter, more creative clip prompts (Hailuo/Kling/Veo) that match reality, not guesswork. That’s why the results feel reliable on the first attempt.
Quick flow: GPT prompts → Gemini images → back to GPT → clip prompt → render → chain next clip.

I gave the GPT two photos to anchor the motion—a start and an end—and it wrote the clip prompt. One render, no retries.

You pushed me to try longer video. I shipped two. Not perfect, but honestly first‑try. If this saves you time or gives you momentum, hit reply and tell me what you’ll make next.
